Last week there was an amazing conference in Barcelona, Spain. The place is great of course, but organizers are awesome too! A big thank to all of you guys !

On saturday, I had a talk about JavaEE and Angular2.

The main topics were:

  • What did I miss from a plain standard EE container to write this blog?

  • How new is Angular2, and why is it easier for java dev to get started? Is Angular2 prod ready?

For the EE part, one underlying question was: when you miss something, should you write it yourself or use a library? Of course the question depends on your choices and needs, but for that presentation I showed that both can make sense: not only because of the number of lines of code you will have to maintain, but also depending on the complexity of such a code. For this, have a look at the asynchronism part which is not as straightforward as expected ;)

The Angular2 part tries to summarize how Angular2 will look like, and how I handled few advanced cases like security for this blog.

Finally, a last “bonus” part was about how this blog has been deployed on Openshift Online for free, very quickly, and in a versioned manner thanks to Openshift and TomEE.

You will find the complete slide deck clicking on this link.

If you want some presenter notes you can hit “s” and use right/left arrows to make the deck moving forward/backward.

Finally, if you want to check more closely the sources of this blog, you can find them on github - this also allows you to check how the build uses maven for the main pipeline and webpack for the frontend part.

Well, I hope you will enjoy. Feel free to contact me on twitter for questions or comments that can help future improvements.
